ITALY AND SPAIN: BILATERAL MEETING BETWEEN PORTS AND CITIES
Organized by CNR ITC, Propeller, RETE – International Association for the Collaboration between Ports and Cities, CNR IRISS and University of Naples Parthenope
Event open to the public
As part of Naples Shipping Week 2024, the international conference, “Italy and Spain: Bilateral Meeting between Ports and Cities,” is proposed as a moment of confrontation between Italian and Spanish port-cities to identify common elements and differences between the two systems, sharing their respective problems and the strategies adopted for their resolution, with a view to mutual learning and enrichment.
The conference will consist of three thematic talks on different governance models, approaches to port-city interaction and the challenge of sustainability for the Mediterranean area. The initiative is promoted by the research group of the National Research Council (CNR) coordinated by Massimo Clemente, which is committed to developing the issues of sustainable development of coastal urban areas through interdisciplinary research activities and the analysis of good practices/case studies in national and international contexts.
The research path, rooted in the activities of RETE – International Association for the Collaboration between Ports and Cities as well as in the history of Naples Shipping Week, has been developed through specific research projects, moments of confrontation with institutions, associations, citizens and scholars on a shared project of sustainable development of the coastal metropolitan area of Naples and research-action protocols strongly characterized by collaborative approaches.
